Billions of plastic particles in just one cup of tea from a bag

By Rob Picheta, CNN; September 27, 2019. They're everywhere: in the oceans[1], in the soil[2], in the air, in the snow[3] – and even in your cup of tea! Plastic tea bags are leaching billions of microplastics into the tea we drink, a new study finds. Researchers at McGill University in Canada analyzed what happens when we put four different types of tea bags available in our stores into boiling water. They found that just one bag released about 11.6 micrograms of plastic into a cup of tea.

Tonsil and adenoid surgery in children increases the risk of 28 diseases - a scientific study shows

By Sayer Ji, July 7, 2018. While mainstream medicine advocates removing 'damaged' or 'malfunctioning' organs in our bodies, a study that has brought about a major shift in understanding the long-term effects of tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy calls into question the surgeries, which are performed on nearly half a million children in the United States each year. The first direct evidence that bacteria living inside us change shape to avoid antibiotics

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are one of the biggest threats to human health today, blamed on the excessive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics. Not only does antibiotic resistance cause an estimated 700,000 deaths a year, but many infectious diseases, such as pneumonia, tuberculosis and gonorrhoea, have become much harder to treat. Unless we find a way to stop bacteria from developing antibiotic resistance, it is estimated that preventable diseases could cause 10 million deaths a year.

A new scientific study confirms: chemotherapy helps cancer spread!

An international team of scientists has once again proven[1] that chemotherapy spreads cancer. The work, published in the journal Nature Cell Biology, examined two commonly used chemotherapy drugs, paclitaxel and doxorubicin, and their effects on breast cancer cells. Confirming previous studies, it has been shown once again that the use of these highly toxic substances can trigger the appearance of new tumors in other parts of the body. The study describes how the use of two chemotherapy drugs in breast cancer leads to

Scientists discovered: water to which fluorides are added causes hypothyroidism, weight gain and depression

The BMJ Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health recently published devastating results on the health effects of fluoridated water. In a study published in 2015, Peckham, Lowery and Spencer[1] had already linked fluoride levels in drinking water to a metabolic disorder called hypothyroidism. This is an underactive thyroid gland, which does not produce enough of the hormones the body needs; these regulate metabolic processes, which then affect body weight, energy levels and mood: hypothyroidism can increase

Arnold Schwarzenegger became a vegetarian

The liver must metabolize and neutralize anything that increases ammonia in the body. The main culprit is animal foods. When animal foods are digested, they create ammonia (an alkaline gas), which your intestines absorb into your blood so your liver can convert it into urine, which your kidneys can then excrete. Americans (as the largest consumers of animal foods on the planet per person) are at the forefront of creating excess ammonia in their intestines, which weakens

Slowing the development of early onset dementia

STRESS THE KISS OF DEATH OR?

Differentiating between "stress" and "stressor" In dealing with stress, most of us already have two things against us beforehand. The very language we typically use to describe stress diminishes our ability to deal with it in the most effective way. Most people define stress by what they are faced with – the problems and worries they need to deal with. Such understanding makes us victims of what is happening around us. However, a large amount of research indicates that it is not what we have to deal with, but how

Marijuana is a dangerous drug, not an alternative to tobacco

One popular alternative seems to have a reputation for being harmless and simply a pleasure for young people – marijuana. However, marijuana is a dangerous and addictive drug. Marijuana smoke, like tobacco smoke, contains a number of chemicals. Even laypeople can pronounce the name tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the main active ingredient in marijuana. Few people know that this ingredient is just one of over 60 cannabinoids (a class of drugs) found in marijuana. Just as tobacco smoke contains a large amount of
