The lymphatic system is responsible for neutralizing toxins and purifying the body, all while transporting a precious cargo of infection-fighting cells. Yet this life-sustaining group of nodes, glands and organs is often overlooked or taken for granted. It's true: A number of factors—including poor diet, exposure to toxins, food allergies, and a sedentary lifestyle—can create excess waste and debris in the lymph, or lymphatic fluid. The result is a sluggish or congested lymphatic system, which can set the stage for respiratory infections, ear and sinus infections, edema and swollen glands. Improve Your Lymphatic System - Naturally Fortunately, the holistic techniques - highlighted in this article - can help you naturally unclog, stimulate and cleanse your lymphatic system. Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have a driving center or pump. Instead, lymph is moved by the relaxation and contraction of muscles and joints.

Trampoline

You can boost circulation and help move lymph throughout your body by jumping on a trampoline for 10 to 30 minutes. If you don't have access to a trampoline, fear not: using a skipping rope or performing jumping jacks is also effective. You will notice that jumping up and down (in a relaxed way) will energize your whole body (this is a benefit of getting the lymph moving). If your body is too uncomfortable to jump on the ground, try doing it on a surface of sand, grass or a rubber mat under your feet.

Eat raw, organic foods

You can help clear a congested lymphatic system by increasing your consumption of raw foods – especially organic fruits and vegetables, which have natural enzymes that help clear toxins and promote their exit from the body. Fruits and vegetables also raise water levels in the body and help with hydration, while their healthy amounts of fiber stimulate the bowels, making it easier for intestinal fluids to migrate to the lymph nodes. Also, raw foods tend to be alkaline, helping to neutralize pathogens and relieve lymph (of course, try to chew well). In addition, at the same time, avoid consuming dairy products that clog the lymph, sugar, genetically modified and processed foods.  You will likely notice a nice boost in energy levels.

Stay hydrated.

Since the lymphatic system is made up of 95 percent water, it is important to avoid dehydration.
Experts advise that you drink as much water as you have kg of body mass, then divide that number by 30.
That would be the daily need for water. So, if you weigh 90 kg, divide that by 30 and you get that you need to drink 3 liters of water a day.
Of course, in the summer and with increased physical activity, this amount increases even more.

Remember, not all water is created equal – so (if possible) drink pure spring water or purified water to reduce your toxic load. For added health benefits, use fresh (organic) lemon juice to flavor your water and take advantage of the citrus fruit's antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties, along with its infection-fighting vitamin C content.

Turn things upside down

Use an inversion table that allows you to hang upside down while your legs are tied.
Being in this unusual position can help promote the free flow of lymph.
Use a quality inversion table with a safety strap to control the inversion angle and safety locks to hold it in place.

 Herbal treatment

Herbal substances can improve the lymphatic system by improving lymphatic flow and drainage and facilitating the removal of toxins. Goosegrass, or Galium aparne – also known as the splitter – is a valued lymphatic tonic that removes and drains trapped bacteria from the lymph glands. Red clover, with its detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties, may also be beneficial.

Dry brushing

With a brush with coarse fibers or a loofah sponge, gently brush the skin in the direction of the heart. While you may feel silly doing it, experts say it boosts circulation and encourages lymph movement. Otherwise, dry brushing can be especially helpful in breaking up cellulite deposits caused by a sluggish lymphatic system.

Proteolytic enzymes

Used in the body to break down proteins and aid in digestion and metabolism, enzymes can help dissolve and remove toxic buildup in the lymph and blood, promoting lymphatic drainage and stimulating the immune system. You can take them as a supplement – or get them through your diet by eating papaya, which contains the enzyme papain, and pineapple, which contains bromelain.

Lymphatic massage

Specialized lymphatic drainage with gentle pressure and rhythmic circular movements stimulates the flow of lymph and the drainage of toxins. You can also perform a DIY version by gently massaging the lymph nodes under the jaw. According to a 2009 review published in The Journal of Manual Manipulative Therapy, lymphatic drainage facilitated the removal of waste products in the lymphatic system and helped reduce edema.

Avoid tight clothing

This is especially true of underwired bras, which can significantly impede lymph flow and drainage from the lymph nodes located in the armpits and upper chest. Possible consequences of long-term use of constrictive clothing can include damage to lymphatic function, fibrocystic breast tissue, and even breast cancer. Better to be safe… and comfortable.

BONUS TIP:
Yoga

Yoga exercises are a boon for the lymphatic system because the headstand, handstand and shoulder stand significantly stimulate the flow. If this is not practical, raising your legs and placing them on the wall is a good alternative option.
The general contraction and relaxation of the muscles in yoga positions promotes the beneficial flow of lymph. Yoga positions that involve abdominal rotation can be particularly effective, as twisting the abdomen compresses organs and muscles and causes lymph to flow from the tissues. Obviously, these are all just suggestions. Find what works for you and get started today.
Your body (and mind) will thank you for it.
